MISSING MH370: Zahid: Data deleted from pilot's simulator

PUTRAJAYA: Investigators examining Malaysia Airlines (MAS) pilot captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah’s home-made flight simulator have found that several recent files in the machine, that could possibly provide better insight into the mysterious disappearance of flight MH370, had been deleted.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said computer forensics experts are working round-the-clock to retrieve the deleted files.

He said the police were not accusing the lead pilot of the flight of any wrong-doing or to pressure any of his family members but were conducting a thorough and intensive investigation.

“The police had invited several Boeing 777 operators and also those who were experts in flight simulators, as well as Information Technology (IT) professionals to assist in the probe,” he told a press conference, near here, this afternoon.

Zahid added that the ministry will organise a meeting with related government agencies soon to discuss steps to improve security protocols in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and other entry points.
