The Wattreloses had just wrapped up their beach holiday in Malaysia. The French family living in Beijing – mother Laurence, 52, two of her three children, Hadrien, 17, and Ambre, 14 – were also joined by Hadrien's girlfriend Zhao Yan, 18, who also held a French passport.
The Wattrelos teens and Zhao attended French school Lycée Français International de Pékin in Beijing.
Laurence's businessman husband Ghyslain was informed by French diplomats that his family's plane had gone missing when he was met at the Beijing airport from a flight from Paris. TMIMY-018
